Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

At Here|After, we believe that a clutter-free space leads to a clearer mind. Our philosophy centers around the idea of Swedish Death Cleaning, helping you cherish what matters most while letting go of the rest.

The story behind the name

The term hereafter means “from this time on” or “an existence that comes after life ends.” There are two reasons for why we chose this as our name.

  • The first reason is that we believe you deserve your own hereafter. From here on, we want you to feel like you can live your life freer and lighter. With less clutter and your things in order, we can help take the daily burden of environmental chaos out of the equation. We want you to feel empowered, calm, re-energized, and powerful in your own space.

  • The second reason is that we want to give your possessions a “second life” once they leave your space. We live in a throw-away culture. As easy as it is to just throw things “away,” it doesn’t mean that those items don’t still exist or impact our environment. We also believe that if resources are shared and allocated more thoughtfully, we can all have access to the things we need.

The Faces Behind the Work

Sydney Kindberg

Working with a growth mindset is at the heart of the work I do with Here|After. Though keeping afloat of the chaos modern life throws at us may come easy to some, it definitely doesn’t for others. Myself included. I’ve learned through hard lessons over the years the importance of caring for one’s space. The feeling of being able to relax in a home or work area that isn’t overwhelmed by projects left undone is one that I now can’t live without. I don’t think anyone should feel left drowning alone. If I can learn how to maintain my material possessions and all the stress they can create, then so can you! We’re in this together.

Karley Kindberg

My passion for organizing and cleaning comes from my realization that I cannot function in a chaotic space. I am certainly not perfect with keeping my own home organized at all times, but I have trained myself to stay in routines that allow my space to feel much more comfortable and functional on a day-to-day basis. When my partner and I moved into our current house, I was very conscious of where I put certain items. My focus was on categorizing and stationing our things in areas of the house that made sense in terms of use and function. I had not been that particular in any of my homes before, mostly due to feeling overwhelmed about how to organize well. However, over the years, I realized how much I hated having to hunt for important documents or random shoes that I knew I had but could never find. Living in a space that was organized from the get-go has made such a huge difference in my ability to confidently and calmly live in the space. I have also realized just how much stuff I tend to accumulate as life goes on. It’s so easy to allow spaces to become filled with things, important and not. I am eager to exercise my organizational and cleaning skills in other people’s spaces to help them create the comfort and peace of mind that I’ve been able to create for myself in my own home. I truly believe in the influence of our external environment on our internal health. Having a clean, organized space can allow your mind to open up to other things in your life that you may have been neglecting because of the clutter and mess around you. Our goal is to help you and your items find your own Here|After.
